Our capitalist society frowns upon self care for Black, Indigenous, and Queer folks. Black, Indigenous, and Queer folks are labeled and condemned as selfish when they practice self-care. However, they are the folks that are constantly in survival mode and often times, do not have the necessary means to find some self-care practices that work for them.
We aim to unravel some of the critiques of self-care by launching our Indigenous Womxn Self-Care Series. This series will center our indigenous womxn/queer/LGBTQ/non-binary voices as we navigate the current geopolitical climate we are living and experiencing everyday. Our contributors have shared some of their personal stories to provide guidance to others who might be experiencing similar life circumstances. These can be read in our blog.
